"Backstage rumors swirl as Brock Lesnar’s WrestleMania 42 status remains undecided for now "
Backstage chatter surrounding Brock Lesnar has grown louder again, and his road to WrestleMania 42 is no longer as clear as many assumed.
While WWE has lightly teased his presence through promotional material and a brief appearance during Royal Rumble weekend, new reporting suggests his role is still very much undecided.
Current internal updates indicate that Lesnar remains a possibility for the WrestleMania card, but nothing has been locked in from a creative standpoint. His name continues to come up in planning meetings, yet there is no confirmed direction or approved matchup. WWE officials appear to be keeping their options open rather than rushing a decision.
Dave Meltzer addressed the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio and stressed that Lesnar’s status for WrestleMania is still fluid. According to Meltzer, Lesnar is always part of the conversation because of the attention and credibility he brings to any event. However, those same expectations are why WWE has been careful not to finalize anything too early.
With much of the WrestleMania card still taking shape, Lesnar’s placement has been delayed more than usual. WWE wants flexibility, especially as other top programs continue to evolve.
Creative Weighs Potential Directions for Lesnar
One concept that has gained some traction involves Oba Femi. Their brief interaction at the Royal Rumble caught attention backstage, with some seeing it as a strong opportunity to elevate Femi quickly. While the idea has been discussed, it remains exploratory rather than confirmed.
Another matchup that refuses to go away is Brock Lesnar versus Gunther. The bout has been teased multiple times in the past, only to be shelved due to timing or shifting priorities. With Gunther now riding significant momentum following recent high-profile wins, that option has resurfaced once again.
Reports from the last day suggest WWE creative is revisiting the Lesnar-Gunther idea, though it is still one of several scenarios under consideration. No final call has been made, and WWE is reportedly cautious about committing too soon.
At the same time, WWE is working to finalize other major WrestleMania programs involving Roman Reigns and CM Punk. Those decisions directly affect where Lesnar could fit, if at all. Adding him to the card changes the balance instantly, which is why WWE appears content letting the situation breathe before making a move.
