"Fan seeks apology and handshake from CM Punk after WrestleMania hotel phone confrontation incident. "
Las Vegas, What should have been the end of a blockbuster WrestleMania weekend has now turned into an unexpected off-ring controversy involving CM Punk.
A fan is asking WWE star for an apology following a brief but heated exchange at a Las Vegas hotel shortly after WrestleMania 42 concluded.
The situation unfolded inside MGM Grand when Punk, who had just competed in a high-profile main event match against Roman Reigns, was leaving alongside his wife, former WWE star AJ Lee.
Fellow WWE performer Bayley was also present. A fan began filming as AJ Lee and Bayley shared a goodbye moment. Witnesses say Bayley asked the man to stop recording and to give them space.
When the filming continued, Punk stepped in and knocked phone out of the fan’s hand. Security quickly moved in, preventing encounter from escalating further.
The brief clash may have lasted only seconds, but it has since sparked widespread discussion across wrestling circles.
A Call for Respect and Closure
The fan involved has now spoken publicly, making it clear that he is not interested in turning incident into a legal battle. Instead, he says he simply wants a direct apology from Punk and a handshake to settle matter face to face.
According to his statement, the goal is not revenge or compensation. “I just want an apology,” he explained, stressing that a simple acknowledgment would be enough to put the issue behind them.
He also confirmed he has no plans to file a lawsuit or press charges.
The episode has reopened an ongoing debate in professional wrestling: where is line between public access and personal space? While WWE superstars are used to cameras and constant attention, moments outside arena often blur that boundary.
Many fans feel wrestlers should expect to be filmed in public. Others argue performers deserve privacy, especially when they are off duty with family.
As of now, CM Punk has not commented publicly on fan’s request. WWE has also remained silent on the matter.
