"Reigns set the trap on Raw and Fatu turned it into a war"
Roman Reigns won the match. He kept the title. He even told the world Backlash was Jacob Fatu's last night in WWE.
Then Monday came around, and Fatu put him through an announce table in front of thousands in Knoxville, Tennessee. Winning the battle clearly meant nothing because Fatu just won the war on Raw.
What was scheduled as a formal Acknowledgment Ceremony on the May 11 Raw turned into something far darker before Fatu even reached the ring.
Backstage, Jey Uso tried desperately to stop him, warning him that going out there would create serious problems for himself and the family.
Fatu responded with headbutts, dropped Jey at the gorilla position, and walked straight through Jimmy Uso on the ramp like he wasn't even there. The message was simple nobody was going to stand between him and Roman Reigns.
When the Tribal Chief's Ceremony Became His Worst Night
Once inside the ring, both men erupted immediately. Reigns grabbed a steel chair and unloaded across Fatu's back repeatedly, screaming at him to acknowledge or leave WWE altogether. Chair shot after chair shot. It made no difference.
Fatu absorbed the punishment, countered a spear attempt with a superkick, locked in the Tongan Death Grip, and sent Reigns over the top rope. The crowd in Knoxville was completely unraveling.
From there, the destruction escalated fast. Fatu slammed Reigns repeatedly into the ring post and steel steps before clearing the announce table. A thunderous powerbomb sent the World Heavyweight Champion crashing through it.
Even GM Adam Pearce rushing to ringside and physically trying to pull Fatu away changed nothing.
Fatu locked in the Tongan Death Grip a second time, picked up the championship belt, licked it, and walked toward the entrance only to sprint back and launch a full-speed running hip attack that sent Reigns, Jimmy, and Jey crashing through the ringside barricade simultaneously.
