"Baron Corbin's WWE return talks heat up but will Bishop Dyer answer the call?"
The rumor mill in professional wrestling never truly sleeps, and right now, one name is generating serious buzz backstage in WWE.
Tom Pestock better known to millions of fans worldwide as Baron Corbin could be on his way back to the company that shaped his career for over a decade. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, conversations about a reunion between Pestock and WWE have already taken place, though Meltzer was careful to clarify, "I've not heard it's a done deal, but I know it's been talked about."
Pestock's original run with WWE spanned a successful 12 years before it came to a surprising end in November 2024. Despite a notable wave of fan support at the time, he was informed that his contract would not be renewed. For a guy who had built an entire career inside WWE's ecosystem, that kind of exit stings. But rather than disappear quietly, he pivoted hard and rebuilt himself from scratch.
The Bishop Dyer Era and What Comes Next
After leaving WWE, Pestock reinvented himself on the independent circuit under the name Bishop Dyer, debuting for Major League Wrestling in April 2025.
He has since become one half of the MLW World Tag Team Champions, teaming alongside fellow former WWE talent Dijak. That championship run shows he's been doing far more than keeping himself busy he's been thriving.
What makes this potential return genuinely compelling is Pestock's own mindset heading into it.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, he was crystal clear about his identity going forward: "When I come back, maybe a year from now in 2026 they go, 'We want you in the Rumble as Baron Corbin.' 'He's dead. Bishop Dyer is the guy.' I think Baron Corbin is dead. There is no looking back."
That level of conviction is hard to ignore. Whether WWE will honor that new identity or dust off the old name remains the big question.
Meltzer has also theorized that a mysterious larger clone being created in Danhausen's SmackDown lab segments could eventually be revealed as Pestock which would be a wild and creative entry point for his comeback.
